Post #1: A little bit about myself
Hey, my name's Michelle. Nice to meet you. I'm 18 years old, and in my first year of college! It's overwhelming, but I seem to be handling it well so far.
Apparently, a woman who wants to go into the tech field is a rarity; I'm a little surprised at that, but with that in mind I'll be doing my best to represent the minority well.
As for my background? I was born and raised in Pierre, South Dakota. At the age of 7, I moved to Tea, South Dakota. It was a major change for someone as young as I was.
Even more challenging, I was diagnosed with Autism around the age of 2. Autism creates a huge barrier for socialization; It's hard to explain, but you just can't really seem to make eye-contact with people, or even feel comfortable talking with them-- It's like it doesn't register in your brain!
But even with all that, I've managed to come this far in life, despite all the hurdles and difficulties that it's thrown in my path.
Thinking so far into the past makes me realize I have such a big story to tell. If you want to know something else about me, ask away.
